A better Boca requires careful questions, not blind enthusiasm

Few residents would argue against the goal of a vibrant, attractive downtown. The question is not whether Boca Raton should invest in its future, but how. Large-scale development projects like One Boca warrant careful examination because their impacts extend far beyond architectural renderings and promotional language. When public land is committed, especially under a 99-year lease, the decision is effectively permanent, shaping the city’s finances, infrastructure demands and community character for generations.

10 Reasons Why Boca’s Government Campus Proposal Is A Bad Deal

Boca’s Government Campus project is touted as a financial boon for Boca Raton. City council members describe the Government Campus proposal as a way to “activate” our downtown, attract new residents and businesses, and keep property taxes low.

As a CPA for over 30 years specializing in governmental auditing and accounting and business valuation, and now a candidate for Boca Raton City Council, Seat A, I respectfully disagree. Here are ten financial issues for why this project is not in Boca’s best interest.
